Now I want to buy makeup (much to Danny's chagrin) ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME. Of course, as a new mom, I can't really hit up Sephora and leave with $200+ worth of glorious beauty products and be able to feed my kid much less Danny and me. So, I covet and I covet...oh, and covet some more. Hey I gotta build my arsenal anyway and I just gotta realize, it will take time...
BUT I WANT ALL THE MAC LIPSTICKS NOW!
*slow breath-in, slow breath-out*
Ok, just kidding...sort of. I mean, I can control myself. In the meantime, here's my makeup/beauty wish covet list thanks to the various makeup YouTubers or Vloggers or whatever the 'F' they call themselves.
Sure it doesn't look like much (or maybe it does?), but that shit adds up! Well, for reference here's the "what's what" break down:
EYES
- Balm Voyage by The Balm - The colors are the BALM! Ahahahaha, get it?! But seriously, the turquoise color is adorable and my lids are begging for some of that deep teal color. I also dig that it comes with lip/cheek creams to play with.
- L'Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara by L'Oreal Paris - Right now I'm using e.l.f.'s waterproof lengthening and volumizing mascara, which was my first mascara purchase, uh, EVER. It's ok, of course I know no better. YouTuber extraordinaire, Estée from Essie Button swears by the L'Oreal brand (at least in the videos I've watched) and I'm gonna trust her. I mean, she just has that kind of face that says, "Dude, trust me" and I'm all, "You got it, gurl."
- Teal Malachite Goddess Pencil & Charcoal Obsidian Goddess Pencil by Eye of Horus - Now, how cool is that brand's name?! Sharon uses the Charcoal Obsidian one a lot in her videos for tight-lining her lids. Ok folks - I've never tight-lined my eyes, but now that I'm wearing mascara, I'm eager to learn! I'm a sucker for teal; hence the Teal Malachite pencil. Here's what I'm thinking: I'll wear this number (for my wedding day in particular) on the bottom lash line with a neutral eye and a bold lip (I already purchased Lady Danger by MAC - my first MAC purchase!!!). I'm wearing a teal colored sweater, so why not hint at it with this liner?
- Master Graphic Liquid Eyeliner by Maybelline - I so want to be a pro at administering eyeliner on myself. Sigh. Will it ever happen? Well, in the meantime, I watched Lily Melrose on her channel apply this like it ain't no thang. I'm sure that won't be the case with me, but I loved the graphic thick line it created. I want it to practice using it and then dominating with it!
- Plantscription by Origins - This is an under eye concealer that Alix from I Covet Thee (oh, I so know the feeling) swears by. I don't know why these gals use different brands of concealer and foundation, but after watching several of her videos and through the various concealers she uses this one is a constant. I like the brand, so yes, sign me up for some STAT.
LIPS
- High Tea by MAC - Estée mentions this one in a video and I must say, I love the name and I love the color! I think this would make a great nude for my burgeoning lipstick collection. But who am I kidding? I WANT All OF 'EM.
- Colorburst Balm Stain by Revlon - I'm a sucker for orangey-reds and this is one Estée highly recommends.
- Strawberry Suede by Revlon - Yes she also recommends this one, but it's super hard to get apparently. Although it is listed on Amazon. Anyhoots, I love the coral red color. Looks fun and bright. Perfect shade for a summer day.
- Maracuja Lip Exfoliant by tarte - Now that I'm planning to load my lips with all this lipstick, I better exfoliate 'em for a nice clean smooth surface. I bet I could I probably make my own lip scrub, but this packaging is so pretty!
- Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation by tarte - I think both Estée and Lily use this. They both use various kinds of foundations all the time, but because I want to try and stay away from super harsh chemicals I think this is one brand they use that I'd feel guilt-free in putting on my face and then nuzzling my lil' beasty. When I bought my MAC lipstick, a saleswoman suggested a foundation for me and when she went to put it on my face, I kid you not, I could smell the fumes...like paint!? Uh, no thanks. Yikes. I love using EWG's Skin Deep database to check toxicity levels in beauty products. They don't have everything, but almost.
- Mineral Pressed Powder by Laura Mercier - I'm pretty sure all my current fave YouTubers use this or some other powder by Laura Mercier. I believe this is used to set your makeup and emulate that luminous glow you get whilst being knocked up. Ah, the good ol' days.
- Miracle Complexion Sponge by Real Techniques - I can't remember if Estée, Lily, or both use this, but either way I'd be happy to own one; especially if I start using liquid foundation. I actually recently purchased this Real Techniques Brush Set and I'm in love! I didn't include it, but I really want the Real Techniques Eye Brush Set too.
- Convertible Color in Gladiola by stila - My girl Estée raved about this lipstick and blush-in-one and you know how I trust her. Plus, just look at that gorgeous color! Of course it goes on in a much subtler tone on the cheeks. I know this because I saw it on her. Although she's super pale and more olive-skinned, I still have faith it'll look good.
- Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm - I think I first saw Sharon use this then Alix then Essie then Lily? or maybe not Lily...dang, funny how they all start to blend into one. Well at any rate, it supposedly gives you a softer, youthful glow and I'm so down with that.
- Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50+ by Kiehl's - I don't know if you watched this amazingly SHOCKING video on the effects of sun damage on the skin, but let me tell you, it was core-shaking...and yet, I still haven't added sunscreen to my makeup routine. Well, after seeing Alix and Estée using this brand and swearing it feels super light and not sticky I figure it's worth the purchase. Plus, Danny should use it too. We ain't get any younger.
- 'Philosykos' Eau de Toilette & '34' Solid Perfume by diptyque - Both Alix and Estée use scents from this brand. I have yet to smell any of their fragrances, but after reading the description for 'Philosykos' it sounded like me. I'm drawn to the packaging of this brand as well. It's so beautiful and so French. I love the idea of a solid perfume for on-the-go. Again, after reading the description for '34' it sounded like a scent for me. Now I just need to hop over to Nordstrom's and have an olfactory orgy with this brand to find out if I'm right!
- The Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Lemon by Lavanila - I stopped using aluminum-based antiperspirant a couple of years ago. I tried a handful of natural deodorants, but they all gave me underarm rashes. I finally stumbled onto Lush's Aromaco that I pair with one of their dusting powders (currently I'm using Silky Underwear) and that combo leaves me smelling good and rash-less. However, I'm spending like $18+ for deodorant now. Estée had this on her Best of 2014 video. It's aluminum-free and free of other harsh stuff. Apparently her pits are as sensitive as mine and it works for her. It's $14 at Sephora, which is still not cheap but maybe a little cheaper than my current duo, so I'm willing to give it a whirl.
- Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream by 100% Pure - A YouTuber I have yet to mention, Valerie Lee, exclusively uses 100% Pure for all her eyes, lips, face, and skin products. I'm pretty sure she's a new YouTuber, but I love hearing her 100% Pure reviews. Well this eye cream is hands down her fave. I'm not sure I have dark circles per se, but puffiness - yes. So I really want to try this stuff. Apparently, it smells heavenly.
Ok, there ya have it: my makeup covet list. And my second attempt at creating a mood board! Woot, woot. What makeup do you covet? Any recommendations??? Any YouTube recommendations??? Please, feed my addiction! ;)
